"El Salto" Waterfall

Hiking to El Salto Waterfall in Potrerillos is an unforgettable adventure. The trail is accessible and winds through breathtaking landscapes with stunning mountain views. Along the way, you may spot native wildlife. A perfect experience for those seeking nature, tranquility, and a deep connection with the Andes.

El Salto waterfall is located southwest of the charming village of El Salto, near Potrerillos. The trailhead can be found at the end of “Los Cóndores” street, close to the renowned Jerome Brewery.

The entrance to the trail passes through a booth where a fee is charged, as the area is private property. (It is recommended to find out the fee and how to pay it in advance, as the booth is often closed, to avoid any issues). The path is relatively easy to follow and doesn’t require advanced skills, though carrying plenty of water and having moderate physical fitness is recommended for the hike.

The trail crosses the “El Salto” stream several times, so it’s wise to bring extra gear in case you get wet. The surrounding flora and fauna are stunning, with chances to spot foxes, guanacos, and even majestic condors along the way.

At the end of the trail, you’ll be rewarded with a 50-meter waterfall that varies in flow depending on the season and can even be frozen at times. The mountain views from this spot are nothing short of breathtaking.
