Cacheuta

Cacheuta

Cacheuta, just 28 km from the city of Mendoza, is a historic mountain town that amazes visitors with its charm. Known for its thermal waters, ancient ruins, and the stunning mountain scenery that follows the Mendoza River, it’s the perfect spot to relax and make the most of its inviting tourist amenities.

The winding road to Cacheuta is filled with points of interest that showcase its rich tourism and historical heritage.

The main attraction, both past and present, is its world-renowned thermal center. Visitors can enjoy the medicinal benefits of its waters in hotels and thermal parks, thoughtfully designed to offer relaxation and a deeper connection with nature.

In the area known as “Blanco Encalada,” you’ll find the historic train station of the same name and a small museum that highlights Mendoza’s railway history. These tracks, which once extended to Chile, still retain parts of their original structure, offering a glimpse into a significant era. Upon reaching the town, you’ll arrive at the “Cacheuta” station, another relic of this storied past.

As the route turns deeper into the mountains, you’ll come across the ruins of the Fader Hydroelectric Plant, Mendoza’s first such project.

At the heart of Cacheuta, the iconic suspension bridge, a lively artisan market, and charming local bars and restaurants welcome visitors with authentic regional charm.

Beyond the town, heading toward Potrerillos, you’ll catch a stunning view of the Potrerillos Dam from below, eventually reaching the famous tunnel that connects these two destinations.
